A UniTWIN European teaching partnership on ‘Countering gender-based violence in and through the media’ (Fall 2021)
We have participated in the special action research and learning programme organized in the context of the UNESCO UniTWIN Network on Gender Media and ICT, in partnership with the universities of Padova, Newcastle University, Complutense University of Madrid, University of Vienna. The seminar was a unique opportunity to learn about and practice gender advocacy. The starting points for this collaboration were the various perspectives on violence against women in the media – focusing on online and physical attacks against women journalists – and through the media – highlighting the mediated context and conditions of femicide and other forms of violence against women. Groups worked throughout the programme preparing for joint actions on November 25, 2021 and presented their projects on the dedicated web platform.
